The Tibetan Exile
Community

The Tibetan Exile
Community

Dharamsala is small village is situated at the foothills of the Indian Himalayas and is home to His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, and the Tibetan exile community. They have been living in Dharamsala peacefully and campaigning for a Free Tibet since 1959. The Dalai Lama and about 90 000 Tibetans evacuated Tibet 60 years ago, after Chinese occupation.

Streetschool Journeys offer students a unique opportunity to learn about an ancient culture and interact with monks, lamas and other Tibetans. This journey will force you to re-evaluate your priorities, meaning, and purpose.

Testimonials

I have learned that life is like an unscripted, unrehearsed cabaret with no second takes. It’s not enough to just “BE”; one needs to live life in the now, in the moment and in the present with an unshakable stubborn resolve to attain peace and happiness.
– Abubacar Jabbie

I was skeptical of the term ‘life-changing’ before I went to India. Seeing how the Tibetans in Dharamsala act and think, despite all they’ve been through, really opened my eyes to all that I have and changed my own way of thinking too. Life-changing! Thank you Streetschool.
